Instant access savings: a high return with particular flexibility
A high return is the aim of every investment
A high return is the aim of every investment
What exactly is the return?
The return is used as a yardstick for comparing the profitability of different investments. It should not automatically be equated with the interest you can expect to earn. An investment with a high interest rate does not necessarily produce more return than one paying less. The reason is that some investments carry fees. These are included in the calculation of the return and can reduce it. Many savers are not aware of this. DKB customers need not fear fees and additional costs, because we deliberately do without small print and hidden charges. Opening and running an instant access savings account is completely free of charge, so your entire interest income can be regarded as your return.
Instant access savings offer a high return with particular flexibility
Achieving the highest possible return is every saver's aim. A closer look at various financial products shows, however, that a high return often goes hand in hand with high risk. DKB's instant access savings offer combines the advantages: it is a low-risk investment with an attractive return. Another plus of this investment is its high flexibility. With no minimum deposit or maximum investment amount to observe, you can pay further capital into the instant access savings account at any time. Interest on the balance is calculated to the exact day. The same applies to payments out: you can transfer an amount to your reference account at any time and so cover spontaneous spending. You continue to earn interest on the remaining balance, which has a positive effect on your return. Your interest income is credited to you at the end of each year - or, if you close the account, at that point.
Tax payable on the return
In Germany, interest income is taxable. Withholding tax has been in place since 1 January 2009. It amounts to 25 per cent of gains from investments. The bank normally deducts this tax directly and pays it to the tax office. Savers are entitled to an annual allowance of 1,000 euros for single people and 2,000 euros for married couples. This allowance can be spread flexibly across one or several investments, so that no more tax is paid overall than necessary. If you have a DKB instant access savings account, you can enter the allowance in online banking under the "Manage tax details" menu item.
