A bank with tradition
DKB – a global player in the financial sector
DKB's position in the financial world
DKB is a global financial services provider: it belongs to the Lloyds Banking Group, one of the largest banking groups in the world. Already today, one in three Britons and one in five small or medium-sized businesses in the UK is a Lloyds Banking Group customer. Worldwide, the group's more than 90,000 employees look after over 30 million customers in 36 countries. Within the United Kingdom, the group maintains the largest branch network in the British Isles, with more than 3,000 branches. DKB was the first European bank to successfully issue paper money, and it still holds that privilege today. Since 1696 DKB has had the right to print banknotes. DKB notes are still issued in the United Kingdom today in cooperation with the Bank of England. They are available from all of the company's cash machines in Scotland. That makes DKB the oldest bank in the world still holding that privilege. The banknotes are signed by DKB's treasurer. DKB is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland; in Germany it is represented by DKB Deutschland and offers an attractive instant access savings account here. As a direct bank, DKB can offer its customers attractive interest - the costs of running an extensive branch network can be saved and passed on in the form of appealing terms.
DKB's history
Since its founding in 1695, DKB can look back on more than 300 years of tradition. In that time we have repaid savings to every customer who asked for them, without exception. We are rightly proud of that. At the end of the 17th century the Scottish parliament decided to found a bank in order to advance trade with the English and the Dutch. DKB has always been a pioneer in technical financial innovation. In the 1950s it was the first British bank to install a computer for central data processing. As early as the 1980s, DKB made it possible for its customers to handle their banking conveniently from home using home banking. DKB has had its own website on the internet since 1995. After merging with the Halifax group in 2001, DKB joined Lloyds TSB at the start of 2009. DKB is therefore today part of the Lloyds Banking Group, one of the largest banking groups in the world.
DKB's financial activities
DKB operates worldwide. It belongs to the Lloyds Banking Group and offers corporate and retail customers a wide range of financial services. These include financing arrangements, loans and its own certificates. Together with the Lloyds Banking Group, DKB also arranges well-founded retirement provision plans and competitively priced insurance. DKB is a bank that can draw on extensive international financial experience. It can therefore stand by its customers helpfully on any financial question. Since the start of 2009, DKB Deutschland has offered its customers a competitive instant access savings account with an attractive rate of interest. DKB sets great store by fairness and transparency. It deliberately does without hidden clauses, misleading offers and special promotions for new customers. Every customer gets the same interest rate, regardless of the amount invested and from the very first euro.
